Dysfunctional Bite Damage

Mike

After a thorough examination, we discovered that Mike had a bite problem. We fitted him with a deprogrammer (pic 1) to be worn for three weeks. Although Mike’s front teeth were worn, the deprogrammer showed us that he had a dysfunctional bite. All of his back teeth did not hit evenly and at the same time. While eating, Mike was slipping his jaw forward to achieve more tooth contact in front to chew his food. That’s why his front teeth were chipping and wearing down (pic 2). Using the articulator to hold models of Mike’s teeth, we were able to work out a plan to even out his bite with a bite adjustment (pic 3) and bond his front teeth. The results are shown below (pic 4).
